Really true love

Have a box or ten of tissues ready - this really is the story of a love that is for better or worse and in sickness and health.  A Love Story in 22 Pictures

If you have an issue with the war aspect of it, think of it this way...what if he'd gotten those injuries in a car accident?  The point is what happened after that.

H/T to SGP on FB for the link.

Since self-publishing has entered the mainstream...

I have had no experience with this myself so I can't vouch for BookBaby, but they are putting this out there: A sweepstakes with a grand prize of a self-publishing package valued at $10k+.  Winner will be chosen at random on November 5.

Best cat owner ever

This guy felt so bad about giving his cat meds, he built a tower for him.  Out of boxes.

Now that is a devoted cat dad!

Made the Top Ten of this writing competition again

Writers' Police Academy's Golden Donut Short Story Contest announced its Top Ten finalists and I made it again.  Here we are, in no particular order.

The rules are simple: Write a 200 word short story based on this photo:

The winner will be announced this weekend at the WPA's banquet.  Regardless of the outcome, I'll post the story afterward.

It's funny cuz it's true...

Seriously, only a man would come up with the idea of using a coffee maker to cook hotdogs and steam the buns.

Via The secret to humor is surprise

I will admit to being curious as to how well they turned out.

Let there be light!

Having recently moved back to the westside of town, I can vouch that when you get into this tunnel, it does get really dark, especially during the day when you're sporting your prescription Ray Bans: Tunnel under LAX runway to get some much-needed sprucing up.  For once, good use of our tax dollars.

"You were with us every step of the way."

As I've mentioned in the past, two of the casualties of 9/11 were L.A. Kings scouts Ace Bailey and Mark Bavis.  Some of the players, along with execs Luc Robitaille and Tim Leiweke, went to the 9/11 Memorial in New York City to pay their respects to the two.

Lump in throat time.
