Occupation: Fool

Celebrities and politics...I just can't. They're so convinced of their own superiority over the unwashed masses that they can't just live and let live. This also translates into trying to find offense everywhere, even - and especially - where none was ever inferred or intended.

Which brings us to this highly entertaining example of a celebrity making an absolute fool of herself on Twitter. I give you the raging intellect of Sarah Silverman, and more importantly, the responses by people smarter and more reasonable than her (which is pretty much everyone outside Hollywood):

So Twitter fired up the grill and roasted Silverman.

Ah yes, the "rubber bullets" (aka earplugs). They never get old.

I have a feeling Silverman will claim it was just a joke, but I don't think anyone's buying that outside of her diehard fans. And also that she'll delete the thread once she realizes how dumb it makes her look, but fortunately for the rest of us, the internet is not only hilarious, but it's also forever!

A day at the Arboretum

Last week Mom and I hit the Arboretum in Arcadia for the first time in a long time. We got there kind of late in the afternoon, but still had about an hour to stroll around and sneaky-feed the critters. I put a couple of the pics up on my Instagram account, and they were pretty popular, so I decided to post more of them here.

Black bamboo.

Bun buns. They're in there, you just have to look.

The ducks are pretty much my favorites.

Wood duck. So very pretty.

This is called an elephant-foot tree, for reasons that should be pretty obvious.

The geese are Mom's favorite, but they're awful aggressive, so I prefer the duckies.

Peacock. Amazing in real life. Pics don't do them justice.

Peacock on a table. They have run of the place and aren't shy about using it.

Just me, or does this remind anyone else of a Hitchcock movie?

Just got the email that LAst Resort, the newest anthology from Sisters in Crime Los Angeles (and my first time being published) is now available for pre-order on Amazon!

We were sent the cover art some time ago but were asked to keep it under wraps until SinC LA made the pre-order announcement.

The anthology, with an introduction by Michael Connelly, will be released on April 17. You will also be able to purchase it from SinC LA's booth at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books April 22-23, 2017.

It's so weird - and wonderful - to see my name on an Amazon page!

A Cure for Sophie

We all know there is no cure for the adorbs.

Side effects include: purring, irresistibility, tummy rubs
and napping in front of a fireplace for hours.

But you can get a cure for yourself at Take the Cure.

Still stoked about A Cure For Wellness, and it's almost here.  I can't remember the last time I saw a first-run film in a theater - usually I wait until they hit cable and Netflix - but I will probably make an exception for this one.

Oxygen rebranding as crime network for women

I've been a big fan of Oxygen Network's Snapped forever. The only downside to watching hours of Snapped is having to sit through commercials for their obnoxious women-behaving-badly reality series. So you can imagine how happy I was to read this: Oxygen To Rebrand As Crime Network.

From the linked article, here's the good news:

Oxygen Media will complete its transformation into a crime-themed cable network this summer when it will be officially rebranded as a crime destination network for women with an all-crime programming slate.

And as if that wasn't enough:

The current Oxygen series that do not fall into the crime theme, including longtime staple Bad Girls Club, Sisterhood of Hip-Hop and the upcoming Battle of the Ex Besties, will not continue after the channel's identity changes in the summer.

The new programming sounds fantastic. Really looking forward to the new Oxygen.
